Summary of Job Duties:

• Instruct 9-12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit grade rosters and enrollment verifications each semester according to established deadlines
• Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing need
• This position will teach Machining courses to high school students and traditional college students
• Responsible for student assessment and grading
• Maintains adequate on-campus presence according to the UAPTC Campus Presence Academic Policy 623
• Post Office hours on office door
• Maintain clean and safe lab along with management of equipment, inventory, and consumables
• Collaborate with industry partners for support of the program
• Provides timely communication with students, staff and administrators of the College
• Effectively utilize the institution's LMS, Blackboard Ultra
• Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned
• Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize documented student learning
• Adopt methods that fairly measure student progress toward student learning outcomes
• Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning
• Prepare students to participate in SkillsUSA competitions
• Facilitate students earning NIMS certifications
• Facilitates accreditation and compliance reviews for program


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree with at least 5-7 years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience in layout and benchwork, operation of milling machine, lathe, bandsaw, drill press, disk and belt sander, grinder, measuring instruments, basic hand tools and other shop equipment
  • Have a passion for the discipline and a commitment to a student-centered philosophy in support of academic excellence for diverse groups of learners
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators as an individual or as a part of a team
  • Ability to modify when appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred experience with 3D printing and CAD
