Where You Will Work:

The Bureau of Field Operations is responsible for the survey and certification process of health care facilities across the State of Florida.

These surveys ensure that all state licensed, and federally certified health care facilities meet the established state and/or federal requirements and patients and residents receive safe, quality health care.

Field Operations staff also ensure the safety of residents in health care facilities when emergencies such as natural disasters occur.

 

This position has been identified as mission essential.

The incumbent in this position may be required to work during the weekend or on holidays.

In addition, mission essential personnel will be required to work during disasters, to include but not limited to, work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.

Emergency work may involve the incumbent to work in another county or staffing location to assist other State Agencies with emergency work.

Emergency duties may include, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

 

Serves as Minimum Data Set/Resident Assessment Instrument (MDS/RAI) Coordinator for the Division of Health Quality Assurance.

Represents the Agency at trainings and meetings regarding nursing home survey processes.

Take part in planning and coordination of surveyor training for nursing home survey processes to Health Quality Assurance Field Operations Staff and other Division Staff.

In addition, provides training to Florida nursing home providers as needed on coding of the MDS Instrument and survey processes.

 

This position is required to successfully complete the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) within the first 12 months is employment as required by Sections 1819(g)(2)(c)(ii) of the Social Security Act, as amended, and Article IV(B) of the Agreement pursuant to Section 1864 of the Social Security Act.

 

Conducts quality assurance reviews on nursing home surveys, complaint and recertification surveys, provides feedback to the Field Office Manager as needed.

 

Completes surveys, related reports and documents findings, delineating problems in the overall quality of care provided and health care practices identified in the facilities surveyed. 

Ensures completion/resolution of all duties and responsibilities related to facility surveys from initial to final action. 

Represents the Agency in any legal actions.

 

A good attendance record is essential for any individual in this position as the work involved occurs daily and is time-critical.

The individual in this position is expected to report to work daily and on time.

Leave must be requested in advance with the exception of emergency circumstances not under the control of the employee.
