What We Are Looking For:

We’re looking for a Development Manager (Messaging Provisioning) who will lead by example in designing and developing solutions for reputation management and number provisioning.

You are the right candidate if...

  • You lead by example in fostering a positive team culture that emphasizes mutual respect, open communication, collaboration, a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence, and strong accountability.
  • You thrive on striking a balance between non-critical path code writing, while also embracing the opportunity to lead a team of 3-4 developers.
  • You are highly invested in the career growth and development of the developers on your team, are very comfortable providing clear and actionable growth-focused feedback, and excel at attracting and retaining great people.
  • You are a clear communicator, able to effectively articulate the work you and your team are doing and provide reliable updates on team progress.
  • You perform well in a data-driven decision-making environment, using insights to lead your team and make informed, impactful decisions, including accurate software estimation.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the availability and performance of the distributed, multi-service systems deployed in AWS (Java/Spring REST APIs) your team develops and maintains by providing hands-on technical leadership
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to your team members through weekly 1:1s as well as timely, clear, and actionable feedback to help them grow in their technical skills and advance their careers
  • Design, document, and review new product features and APIs in collaboration with other team members and our product owner. You’ll also mentor other more junior developers to do the same!
  • Support your team in building and deploying high-quality software, focusing on scalability, fault tolerance, and observability, while creating and maintaining efficient CI/CD pipelines
  • Participate in and mentor your team through productive code reviews adhering to team-defined coding standards as you create products (we value collaboration within and across teams to build better products!)
  • Break down larger product features into manageable stories that can be distributed across multiple developers
  • Split your time between people leadership, technical leadership, product partnership, and non-critical path hands-on code writing
  • Drive sprint planning and execution in partnership with the development team and product owner, ensuring sprint goals are set according to team capacity and sprint progress is tracked, while proactively identifying challenges, aggressively removing roadblocks and maintaining accountability for delivery
  • Work with our product owner and other stakeholders to prioritize and help refine product features, develop feature sizing to provide roadmap estimates, and provide clear reporting on technical progress
  • Support the products you work on in our on-call rotation

What You Need:

If you’re our person, you probably look like this:

  • You have 2+ years leading a team of developers either as a manager with direct reports or as a technical lead
  • You have 7+ years experience building web services in Java and Spring
  • An understanding of network protocols, HTTP, and REST
  • Experience designing and working with distributed systems, specifically the ability to debug issues across correlated microservices
  • Experience with AWS development
  • Experience with SQL and relational database systems (RDS)
  • A 3-year technical degree or equivalent experience

Bonus Points:

Wow, it’d be really great if also:

  • You have experience working with remote team members across global time zones

At Bandwidth, we’re pretty proud of our corporate culture, which is rooted in our “Whole Person Pr
