About the role

To perform financial analysis that maximizes profits and asset growth and minimizes operating losses and other risk exposures. Provide analytical support for various business strategies to ensure Navy Federal goals are met. Utilize and adapt financial models and simulation scenarios to optimize business performance and manage strategic risk exposure. Assist with the production of performance reports to management. Work under moderate supervision.

  • Develop and optimize risk strategies and credit guidelines that drive portfolio growth while ensuring that portfolios operate within boundaries of acceptable risk.
  • Conduct statistical/financial analysis on internal and external market data to discover the tradeoffs of competing business objectives such as growth, profitability, market share and competitive position.
  • Develop data visualization projects using data mining techniques for analyzing current and future performance.
  • Create financial reports based on the impact of predictive modeling assumptions.
  • Develop and test multiple hypotheses using results from analyses to generate and answer new questions leading to more in-depth understanding of business issue(s) being studied.
  • Evaluate/develop/implement analytical techniques and best practices to gain a competitive advantage.
  • Coordinate the production of performance reports for management.
  • Serve as SME regarding product optimization and risk evaluations.
  • Utilize data validation and audits to identify variances and/or deviations from forecasts.
  • Identify existing and new issues pertaining to compliance with state and federal regulations to ensure necessary policies, strategies and procedures are implemented.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or appropriate.
  • Participate in complex interdepartmental initiatives of significant business risk & impact.
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data of business processes to determine and promote data driven business decisions.
  • Interpret results of analysis; present recommendations, alternatives, and implications.
  • Analyze processes and workflows to understand value chain, input/output, to improve and or automate business performance.
  • Utilize performance measurements and indicators to identify areas for improvement; develop process improvement plans for each performance indicator or are identified.
  • Analyze and reconcile data warehouse month end data to accounting data. 
  • Backup and review daily and monthly Funds Transfer Pricing analysis on multiple asset and liability portfolios utilizing Quantitative Risk Management system, SQL, and Tableau 
  • Perform monthly audit of large data sets, identify and resolve variances.
  • Work with Data Warehouse to prepare data used for month end balancing and risk analytics.
  • Load Month End data business day 1-4 with strict production deadlines and accuracy.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced month-end production environment delivering timely and accurate results. 
  • Thorough knowledge of credit union or retail banking operations 
  • Evidence of progressively significant responsibility in financial risk management  
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, financial modeling, and ALM theory and techniques
  • Knowledge and experience with programs and systems used for storing, retrieving, and analyzing large sets of data (SQL, IDW, Python…)
  • Knowledge and experience with Tableau or Power BI
  • Effective skill in reviewing financial models to be familiar with data inputs and model purpose. 
  • Effective skill researching and analyzing data, processes, and trends.
  • Effective analytical/quantitative, reconciliation and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Effective research, analytical, time management and problem-solving skills.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
