Assistant Project Manager - Military Housing Construction

Lendlease manages one of the largest portfolios as part of the US Department of Defense’s Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI), a program that provides for the transfer of military housing assets to private sector companies. JOB SUMMARY:
As a part of the team of project managers, this role will work under the guidance of more experienced Project Managers. You will assist Project Managers in the daily management and successful completion of packages to meet time and cost objectives. You may additionally be assigned smaller packages to manage.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work anticipated to be performed. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all required.
- Maintains a robust understanding of safety requirements for all aspects of the site. Including pre-planning, monitoring of construction activities and site conditions, and taking corrective actions to non-compliant work. Driving the Lendlease EHS initiatives on a daily basis with the trades/subcontractors.
- Aligns procurement and supply chain options to project objectives contributing to the procurement strategy, especially for subcontractors. Assists/leads the preparation of required Lendlease tender documents and evaluation criteria based on commercial/market, client and Lendlease quality, safety and governance criteria.
- Understands the cost interdependencies of the project and applies judgment to best manage these e.g. attendance costs for contractors, financial implication of overlapping work.
- Supervises works and effectively utilizes short-range project management programs, production control monitoring, and drawings etc.
- Applies knowledge and experience when providing input into the project planning report by understanding implications when making recommendations related to issues e.g., materials handling, site layout etc.
- Has a solid understanding of the skills and expertise of the broader team and harnesses the relevant professionals to maximize the project’s success.
- Uses knowledge and awareness of project related interdependencies to maintain and provide accurate and detailed project records and reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinates design and quality documentation to ensure strict compliance of all subcontracts to the project requirements, assuring all contractual service levels are met.
- Participate in project and staff meetings.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior construction experience, preferably working in homebuilding or on commercial projects for a General Contractor.
- Demonstrated ability to perform in the areas of reading plans, assembling bid packages, material ordering, tracking submittals, managing RFI's, processing change orders, and processing pay aps.
- Requires strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard construction software applications including: Bluebeam, Primavera 6, and construction documentation management systems (i.e. Procore, Trimble, ProLog, Autodesk, Sage, Kahua or others).
- Four-year Bachelor Degree in an accredited construction related curriculum, or experience equivalent to a four-year degree.
