Atlas Roofing Shingle, Underlayment, and Ventilation is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent for Meridian, MS.
Position Summary
The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading, developing, and supporting the hourly maintenance and electrical workforce while ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and a strong safety culture. This role partners closely with Production, Purchasing, Reliability, and Electrical Controls to align maintenance priorities with plant goals and drive continuous improvement across the facility.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leadership & Workforce Development

Supervise, coach, and develop hourly maintenance and electrical employees.

Conduct performance evaluations and support ongoing training and skill development.

Maintain discipline and attendance documentation for maintenance personnel.

Ensure proper onboarding and training of new employees; participate in interviews as needed.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance
-
Ensure a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment.

Conduct safety audits and reinforce safe work practices.

Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Arc Flash, Hazard Communication, Hot Work, and PSM.

Investigate all work‑related injuries and illnesses.

Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives across the facility.
Maintenance Operations

Coordinate daily work assignments, preventive maintenance activities, and troubleshooting efforts.

Oversee maintenance activities to ensure equipment uptime, reliability, and compliance with operational standards.

Lead root‑cause analysis and corrective action efforts for equipment failures.

Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

Ensure proper documentation of maintenance work, inspections, and repairs.

Maintain all equipment requiring routine, emergency, or preventive maintenance.

Review creation, planning, assignment, and closure of work orders, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.

Participate in weekly planning meetings to approve or reject work order requests and schedule upcoming maintenance activities.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Partner with the Plant Superintendent and Plant Manager to align maintenance priorities with production needs.

Work closely with department heads to coordinate repairs, schedules, and equipment needs.

Collaborate with the Electrical Controls Manager on electrical safety, controls troubleshooting, and PM development.

Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer to achieve plant reliability goals.

Work with the Purchasing Manager to source parts, manage inventory, and optimize vendor relationships.
Budgeting & Resource Management

Assist in developing and managing the maintenance budget.

Monitor spending on parts, tools, and contracted services.

Identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising safety or reliability.

Recommend purchase of necessary supplies, equipment, and materials.

Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, and resources.
Administrative Responsibilities

Utilize ADP for weekly attendance and payroll purposes.

Compile and prepare reports, records, and documentation as required.

Communicate effectively through email and written correspondence.

Travel occasionally to other Atlas facilities, training sessions, or vendor locations.
