Shipping and Receiving, Manager

 

Oversee direct management of Shipping, Receiving and Delivery operations aligned with established industry protocols and procedures. Oversees inbound and outbound shipping for both domestic and international transportation companies and carriers. Manage all shipment documentation such as package slips and bill of lading and compliance documents. Oversee flow of packages received to end users and packages for preparations for shipment. Collaborate with all department for deliveries and shipments outgoing orders for delivery carriers national and international shipments.   Maintain a clear and clean safe loading dock and working environment.  

 

Reporting to:  Director of Facilities and responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day shipping and receiving operations of the BioNTech US laboratories in Cambridge.  The role will work closely across all levels of organization to ensure quality and timely execution of goods and supplies while adhering to compliance and safety standards.  The successful candidate will be a highly organized individual with strong attention to detail having a solid understanding of the loading dock activities, processes, and policies necessary for efficient and compliant handling of materials and chemicals supplies.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Associate's degree, High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalency. Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office applications, Excel, & Outlook.
  • IATA / DOT/ OSHA training. 5 plus years of logistics, shipping and receiving dock experience including skillset to maintain organizational function and operation of the flow of goods and shipment request.
  • Logistics experience in supporting a bio-pharma R&D/laboratory site and/or patient samples.
  • Act as the local SME or lead on logistics related matters including process management.
  • Partner with US and Global colleagues on regional of global initiatives.
  • Knowledge of logistics companies and their services, including service levels, booking and shipments.
  • Understanding best practices for receiving and inspecting materials; packing, documentation preparation and tendering to a carrier.
  • Create and prepare shipping documentation.
  • Experience with international shipments, including US import and export practices, and understanding cold-chain management; including thermal packaging and temperature recorders. Marken and Cyroport shipping experience is highly recommended as well as managing Patient samples is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work cross functionally within an entire organization and staff.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, comprehensive with Word, Excel, Outlook software’s and formatting.
  • Experience working independently or within a team environment.
  • Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office applications, Excel, & Outlook.

 This position requires skillset to maintain organizational function and operation of the flow of goods and shipment of requested substances per the DOT standards and guidelines. Comfortable working in a laboratory setting with the ability of lifting 50 lbs.

 

Preferred requirements: Bachelor's degree.
