POSITION SPECIFICS

The Security Services Office of The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Document Control Specialist to join our Security Services Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University.  ARL Security Services' mission is to ensure the security of ARL personnel, facilities, material, and information as an agile, efficient, and service-driven team.

ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

You will:

  • Provide agile and efficient document control support and customer service to all organizational groups and personnel in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment

  • Assist with the development of industrial security practices, procedures, process trainings, and briefings, while ensuring compliance with government policies and regulations

  • Prepare for and represent ARL in all aspects of document control inspections and oversight by U.S. government (USG) agencies

  • Assist with periodic inventories and inspections

  • Review controlled items for proper inventory numbers and other required markings

  • Prepare a wide variety of controlled material such as documents, hard drives, circuit boards, microchips, and other hardware to be sent to approved destruction facilities

  • Conduct records searches which include verification, scanning, and/or filing of physical and electronic records

Required skills and experience include:

  • Demonstrated understanding of how to correctly identify, mark, and store classified documents and hardware

  • Handling and safeguarding Controlled Unclassified Information

  • Success in an office environment, where various forms of communication and organizational skills are crucial to be effective

  • Ability to consistently comply with rules and regulations

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance

  • Microsoft Office software, databases, and web applications

  • Past success working autonomously and effectively in fast-paced environment

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Security, Risk Manageme
