Senior Engineer, Core Network

Our partner is seeking a Senior Engineer, Core Network to design and implement IP routing and related services technology in Troutville, VA. The candidate will research and validate new products and services for the IP network, design and implement network security features, develop best practices for current and future infrastructure, and troubleshoot and resolve service issues.

Responsibilities:

• Research, lab test, and validate new products and services for the IP network
  
• Design and implement network security features
• Design and build technical requirements for commercial products
• Strategize on recurring issues and help develop solutions
• Work with external departments concerning network problem resolution
• Design and develop best practices for current and future infrastructure
• Identify and test Operating System upgrades and patches
• Interact with User Advocacy Group, Sales Reps, Sales Engineers, Field Technicians, and directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve service issues at a Tier IV level
• Attend equipment training/demonstrations and industry-related events (seminars, trade shows)
• Adhere to regular and predictable attendance and punctuality

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or 7-10 years of experience in a related field
• CCNA or greater, VCA or greater, EMC SAN Storage Knowledge
• Knowledge of Juniper equipment and configurations, Linux, MySQL and Postgres Database Structures
• Experience with IPv6 network and ARIN
• Experience supporting an ISP network
• Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and work with little or no supervision
• Strong attention to detail and ability to remain calm in stressful situations
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Basic understanding of overall telco network architecture
