Job Description

SUMMARY
U.S. Bank is seeking a Quality Control Risk & Audit Manager to supervise and coordinate the daily activities of an assigned group of Quality Assurance Auditors. This role directs quality assurance review activities, assigns work, and oversees the auditors’ assessment of whether business areas comply with applicable U.S. Bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The Manager reviews and approves QA review findings and final reports, identifies and escalates control gaps or process weaknesses, and advises on improvements or remediation efforts to strengthen internal controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the development and performance of ongoing operational risk assessment routines which include the identification of strengths and weaknesses of the internal control environment within Collections business areas in Payment Services. The department is also responsible for the control routines associated with the third-party vendors including: policy and practice validation, independent compliance-based listening, routine on-site and remote reviews and assessments, and recurring reconcilement routines. Exercise sound judgment, professional skepticism, escalation and ability to challenge business processes when risk or control gaps are identified.

Review and analyze complex processes and activities within assigned Collection and Recovery areas and identifies opportunities to improve internal control routines, self-assessment practices, and process control monitoring. Create and maintain a risk reporting suite that provides senior and line operations managers with ongoing monitoring, trending, and analysis of key risk indicators, process control metrics, and exceptions. Participate in quality calibration activities to promote consistency in review standards and findings and oversee adherence to issue management, remediation tracking, and QA methodologies to ensure timely, consistent, and effective execution.

Recommend and support changes to policies, procedures, and processes to improve work quality, mitigate operational and regulatory risk, and limit unnecessary impact to productivity. Maintain strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations for assigned products, services, or geographic areas; analyze and interpret federal, state, and other regulatory requirements; and coordinate with responsible parties to support compliance. May also be involved in the development, implementation, and distribution of regulatory or compliance policies and procedures.

Participate in the selection and hiring of new employees and responsible for supporting new employee orientation including training on applicable policies, procedures and systems access. Responsible for employee development, succession planning and performance review process including coaching, feedback and performance management. Responsible for other assignments as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Eight to ten years of related experience.
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

- Successful experience with activities, tasks, practices and deliverables for assessing and documenting business opportunities, benefits, risks, and success factors of potential applications.

- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Experience developing QA review plans, testing scripts, sampling approaches, review standards, and documentation expectations.
- Ability to identify root cause, document findings, assess severity, recommend corrective actions, and track remediation through closure.
- Direct supervisory experience managing Auditors.
- Thorough knowledge of the products, policies, operations, and procedures related to the Payments - Default business unit.
- Strong writing, word processing, and spreadsheet analysis skills (i.e.
