We are looking for an experienced, technical Product Manager to join the Elasticsearch product management team and help define the roadmap and vision for core search aspects, including driving forward the new ESQL query language and compute engine initiative. Elasticsearch, the search engine and datastore at the heart of Elastic's offerings, and among the most popular open source projects in history, powers use cases from Enterprise Search, to Observability, to Security, and even analysis of telemetry data from NASA's rovers on Mars. What you will be doing:
- Define and track the requirements and priorities for query languages
- Focus on the major initiatives of the new ESQL language and compute engine
- Connect the dots between the technology delivery to the internal solutions teams, got-to-market motions and community
- Be the voice of the customer and represent the external facts gathered to support the roadmap
- Work closely with the Elasticsearch Team and Tech Leads to define and maintain a shared vision for the future of Elasticsearch.
- Work with downstream teams who leverage Elasticsearch for their core offerings around search applications, observability and security.
- Capture market competitive and trend data, customer and community feedback, and usage information to develop product insights.
What you bring along:
- Substantial experience (ideally 8+ years) in product management.
- Experience with query languages and API development.
- Experience in one or more of the following: large-scale data stores, databases, ETL and query languages.
- Experience defining requirements for and contributing to the design of enterprise platform API.
- Understanding of the trade-offs inherent in the Elasticsearch stack
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Practical experience of SaaS delivery models
- Curiosity and an open mind.
- Humble attitude — we are here for the success of the team and the company.
- Empathy, transparency, and a good sense of humor.
Bonus Points:
- Direct experience with the Elastic Stack.
- Comfortable working in a very cross-functional role, with a highly distributed, global team.
- Experience with open-source software and/or commercial open source companies.
- Experience with one or more of the common use cases for the Elastic Stack, such as application search, logging, metrics, APM, security analytics, GIS, etc.
