Senior Principal Reliability Engineer

onsemi is seeking a Senior Principal Reliability Engineer to join our team in Scottsdale, Arizona. You will be a key member of the cross-functional team responsible for delivering technology and products that exceed customer expectations for robustness, durability and reliability. The candidate will collaborate with a global team to integrate new silicon, silicon carbide and packaging technologies. This position requires deep knowledge of packaging design and manufacturing as it relates to fail mechanisms, proficiency in statistical data analysis to understand and to report reliability test results and effective stakeholder management skills.
- Collaborate with technology development teams for reliability assessments and propose risk mitigations strategies.
- Drive structure problem solving to identify root cause and corrective action for reliability fail mechanisms
- Create reliability plans to characterize potential reliability issues and to qualify new products and changes.
- Correlate reliability fail mechanisms to design, process and material characteristics.
- Conduct statistical data analysis to understand and to report reliability assessment results.
- Collaborate with internal labs for reliability stress tests and failure analyses.
- Develop and implement new reliability test methods with internal labs.
- Design accelerated reliability stress tests to develop or verify reliability stress (acceleration) models.
- 10+ years of experience in reliability engineering or semiconductor packaging.
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
- Understanding of reliability failure mechanisms of semiconductor products.
- Understanding of semiconductor fab and package materials and processes.
- Proficient in structured problem solving and associated tools – 8D, FMEA, fishbone
- Experience with statistical analysis software (JMP, minitab) and Microsoft Office products.
- Willingness to travel (domestic and international): < 10%.
- Excellent verbal and written communications in English.
- Reliability experience on power semiconductor products (Si, SiC, Discrete, power modules, embedding packages) is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry standards (AEC standards, JEDEC, MIL, IEC, AQG324) is a plus.
- Failure analysis experience is a plus.
- PhD with 4+ years of experience in semiconductor packaging or reliability engineering is a plus.
- Experience in advance package research & development is a plus.
