Job Title: Nurse Educator Lead - LTC

Department: Long Term Care

Location: Unity Living Center, 89 Genesee St

Hours Per Week: 40

Schedule: Days, 8a-4:30p

SUMMARY:

Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates learning opportunities for LTC employees in order to promote quality patient care and to enhance wellness, and on-going growth and development of LTC staff. Provides leadership for the LTC educators.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Identifies, develops, and validates specific strategies to meet the learning needs of LTC Employees.
•    Data sources will be: needs assessments, Healthstream Learning Reports, leadership, performance improvement results, customer surveys, regulatory inspection results, data from external sources including benchmarks and course evaluation results.  
•    Develops, implements, and/or facilitates educational programs which meet the learning needs of staff and promotes staff retention, quality health care, employee growth, and personal wellness.  Participates in New Employee Orientation.
•    Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of educational offerings.
•    Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of Quality Review activities.
•    Provides leadership in areas of expertise in LTC Education.
•    Acts as a consultant and/or resource person for LTC education.
•    Technical expertise in computer systems to enable educating others.
•    Ability to use data from external sources for comparison and growth.
•    Demonstrates effective oral and written communication strategies.
•    Utilizes appropriate internal and external marketing strategies for programs.
•    Maintains professional affiliations as appropriate to keep abreast of new developments.
•    Participates in activities that enhance personal and professional growth.
•    Leads and/or participates in team meetings or committee meetings.
•    Works collaboratively with colleagues to meet LTC educational goals/objectives.
•    Supports both the clinical and technical aspects of the electronic information system.
•    Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the RRH mission and values and adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct.
•    Maintains high regard for team member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.
•    Maintains knowledge of all relevant legislative and regulatory mandates and ensures that all activities are in compliance with these requirements.
•    Conducts periodic education staff meetings to include timely distribution and education related to departmental and Ethics/Compliance information.
•    Regular and reliable attendance is required.
•    Provide cross coverage in the case of a vacancy at one of the facilities.
•    Other duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Current RN licensure in the State of New York

· Basic Life Support (BLS)

· BSN or (ASN and BS in health related field) required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Master’s preferred
· Minimum 2 years of LTC or Acute Care experience with at least one year education/ teaching experience.
· Previous educator experience desired, preferably in LTC, Adult Learning and curriculum development, and preferably in a clinical/health related capacity. 
· Knowledge of both the clinical and technical aspects of electronic information systems essential.

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
