Job Overview
The Technician Water Quality Maintenance will operate and maintain water systems and other alternatives such as water softener and pool systems.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Technical

Primarily responsible for the safe operation of water softeners in district owned and operated facilities
Deliver salt to water softener as needed
Test water hardness at all water softener locations
Respond to emergency calls relating to malfunctioning equipment and water conditions
Operate power equipment according to MFG and safety guidelines
Assist Cooling Tower Technicians as needed
Assist Natatorium Manager in the maintenance of natatorium water quality equipment

Safety and Inspection

Examine water quality at district owned facilities on a regular basis for purpose of preventative maintenance and safety
Report any situation that may prove to be a safety hazard to anyone in a building or on campus grounds
Report any conditions which could cause illness or injuries

Administrative

Order materials and make recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase
Keep track concerning total of time, materials and labor on each work order and job assignment
Complete work orders in a timely manner
Keep records and prepares reports of work accomplished and cost of materials and labor

High School Diploma or GED
Associate's Degree preferred
Valid Texas Drivers License
Minimum of 3 years
Ability to communicate with district employees about water conditions and maintain good interpersonal relationships
Ability to handle work emergencies at various locations throughout the District
Proven knowledge of water softener repair and operation as well as the use of all tools common to various trades
Ability to understand and applies all written and oral safety instructions, blueprints, etc.
Ability to plan and layout work projects, and to estimate time and materials needed
Ability to make repairs in all electronic equipment assigned to water quality technician
Computer literate
Ability to read, write and speak English
