The Patient Access Supervisor will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of the registration department and operating the switchboard for the facility. The Supervisor will be responsible for improving patient experience, enhancing patient throughput, and ensuring the department is operating within the applicable rules and regulations. This position will be responsible for maintaining competent and highly trained staff to ensure a high level of accuracy from registration, central authorization, and scheduling. This position will serve as a resource to other departments, physicians, patients, residents and tenants as needed. The Patient Access Supervisor will need to have flexibility and a willingness to support staffing needs.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Oversees department workflow, assigning work and ensuring completion
- Supports development and implementation of department goals, policies, processes, and procedures
- Enforces organizational policies, processes and procedures
- Creates and maintains department schedule
- Supports department leadership with review and approval of staff timecards
- Document absences, and monitor staff attendance
- Collaborates with Department Leadership and HR to recommend appropriate levels of corrective action needed.
- Participate in candidate review, interview and selection process
- Onboard and train new and existing team members
- Promote organizational goals, STAR Standards, communications and activities
- Performs admission functions for all patients.
- Responsible for admissions and outpatient procedures and verifying insurance eligibility.
- Responsible for interviewing patients or their representative, where admission is unscheduled, for personal information.
- Responsible for obtaining signatures on general consent.
- Provides information to the patient/representative about billing, complaint process, patient rights, HIPPA and visiting hours. Distributes organization literature.
- Responsible for collection of payments, recording, and forwarding to Patient Financial Services.
- Refers patient to the Patient Financial Counselor when financial arrangements need to be made.
- Answers the phone and communicates information to the appropriate person.
- Maintains supplies in a neat and orderly environment.
- Supports the orientation and onboarding of new employees
- Handles all overhead paging
Education/Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in department or in similar roles
- Previous Supervisory experience or training preferred
- Participation on True North People Team preferred
- High School Graduate or equivalent preferred
- Administrative/clerical experience preferred
