This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform manual TIG welding on aerospace-grade stainless steel, aluminum, and Inconel hardware using manual and/or automatic welding equipment

  • Execute weld preparation tasks including cutting, blending, chamfering, and cleaning of parts and assemblies to ensure proper fit and surface condition prior to welding

  • Support and prepare hardware for post-weld inspection processes such as dye penetrant testing and chemical treatments

  • Perform periodic maintenance on machines with complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems

  • Accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and Pi tape to verify dimensional conformance and weld quality

  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings and specifications to determine proper layouts, joint configurations, and welding sequences

  • Review, edit, and follow Work Instructions for welding and assembly operations, ensuring documentation accuracy and traceability

  • Design, support, and fabricate tooling and fixtures to support welding and assembly operations

  • Communicate with engineers on design concepts, offering practical suggestions and feedback for design improvements

  • Monitor and verify weld quality in accordance with statistical process controls or other established quality control procedures

  • Work safely and responsibly within an industrial manufacturing environment

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Overhead Crane operation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience with DC- and AC-TIG welding of metals including stainless steels, aluminum, Inconel alloys

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to document and maintain accurate records

  • Ability to use precision hand tools, standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment

  • Familiar with use of personal computers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of AWS D17.1 aerospace welding specs

  • Familiarity with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, etc.) and pressurized system safety

  • Knowledgeable in the use of 3-D CAD tools (CREO is preferred), and ability to read and interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard

  • Knowledge of drawing review, scheduling and work order systems, inventory and various issue tracking systems

  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware

  • Machining experience

  • Crane Operator/Lift Coordinator Experience
