Sr. Data Engineer

Summary

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer out of our Corporate office in Salisbury, Maryland. This role is responsible for data engineering.  This individual  will work closely with business, data science, and technical teams to ensure data movement and management within the Enterprise Analytics Platform is completed to the highest standards and proficiency.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for coding of all data movement on the Enterprise Analytics Platform
• Analyze and organize raw data, building data systems and pipelines to prepare data for analytic needs
• Combine raw information from different sources to promote building of algorithms and prototypes for analysis and reporting
• Based on business usage explore ways to enhance data acquisition, quality, and reliability
• Maintain automation platform to ensure all standard data is refreshed and monitored on an ongoing basis
• Mentoring other Data Engineers, ensuring data engineering best practices are being followed
• Ensure security standards are applied to all data to meet Perdue policy.
• Work with federated business team as they build data pipelines to ensure they are performant and meet standards

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in information technology or Data Analytic with 10+ yrs of experience, a Master’s is a plus.
• Demonstrated strength in SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
• Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
• Knowledge of programming languages  (e.g. Java and Python)
• Extensive Experience with Big Data Technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Pig, Spark, etc.)

Position is to be based in an open cubical environment.
