Studyportals headquarters is in Strijp-S, Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Flexibility to work hybrid.
About Studyportals
We change the lives of millions of students and leave the world a bit brighter than we found it. Every minute 100 students around the world trust our platforms (e.g., mastersportal.com) to find their best matching education for free. At the same time, we help educators diversify their (international) student population and reduce dropouts.
With forty different nationalities among the 150 people working at Studyportals, we are an international bunch of people. Eager to learn and serious about fun. Want to know more?
Why are we searching for you?
To help as many students as possible, we need to build and improve our functionality to grow significantly in users and conversion through technical excellence and next-level product thinking. New landing pages specifically designed to optimally convert users, redesign our article pages to convert 30% more users to the core of the website, and create a search/selection engine that will help students to find their best-matching dream study. Next to that, we need to increase our Core Web Vitals ranking of our mobile pages to drive user growth and user experience.
In short; there are enough (technical) challenges for you to dig into. We value initiative greatly!
What are your three main goals?
- Create new functionality, and optimize the existing, to grow the number of visitors and increase the number of visitors using our core functionality.
- Help us to become more scalable as a platform, by decoupling our dependencies and driving our microservice architecture. Staying in control of quality is key!
- Share your knowledge with your team members and develop yourself further as a developer by using your personal development budget to learn new technologies or methods.
What does your team look like?
The Product Engineering department consists of 35 people. You are part of a scrum team of 5. Your Product Owner sets the product priorities. You are, together with the Product Owner, responsible for designing and implementing new functionalities aimed at growing our visitor numbers. This means that you, as a developer, have influence on what to build, and how to build it. You report to our Software Development Manager, Stefan. He started as a developer at Studyportals and knows his way around the systems. His main responsibility is to make sure you can do your work in the best possible way, take away impediments, drive technical innovation and make sure you can be the best version of yourself.
What Tech Stack do we use?
Almost all our systems have been developed in-house and are following modern quality standards. We work in a service-oriented architecture, powered by our own RESTful API and AWS. Our products are powered by VueJS, Node/NPM, TypeScript, Sass. In parallel, we are scaling up our infrastructure, moving towards Docker and our centralized CI/CD tooling.
