About the role

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual for a post-doctoral fellowship position in the field of climate science. The successful candidate will work on interdisciplinary projects aimed at addressing critical environmental challenges and advancing our understanding of climate and global change processes and their impacts on the environment and human systems. This fellowship presents an excellent opportunity for scientists to collaborate on cutting-edge research projects and contribute to the development of innovative solutions to address climate change challenges.

This is a full-time, one-year fellowship position with the option for a second year and the potential opportunity to join Noblis as a full-time employee.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent research within a Noblis internal Research and Development (R&D) program by designing and executing research on topics related to climate science with a focus on areas such as climate modeling and simulations, atmospheric dynamics, or climate impacts on natural and built infrastructure and/or human-systems processes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to analyze and interpret climate data from various sources, including observational datasets, remote sensing, and numerical simulations.
  • Contribute to the development of methods at the intersection of climate science and machine learning
  • Mentor other teams of researchers with focus on climate science modeling and analysis
  • Contribute to Noblis sustainability community of practice and corporate organizational learning practices by contributing to innovative and engaging learning materials
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive environmental sciences strategy aligned with climate science business objectives and talent development priorities
  • Actively participate in scientific/industry symposium, conferences, and professional societies.
  • Present at scientific conferences (e.g., American Geophysical Union) and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contribute technical content to grants, proposals, white papers, and other internal/external collateral as needed.

Required Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences, Climate Sciences, or a related field.
  • Strong background in climate and/or atmospheric modeling with focus on impacts to build and natural infrastructure and/or human-systems processes.
  • Experience in data analysis methods relevant to environmental research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain or maintain any necessary clearances
