Manager, FP&A - Operations

This role is a key position in the Operations FP&A organization responsible for all aspects of Consolidated Operations (Cost of Goods Sold) reporting across Global CooperSurgical as well as will hold responsibility for the overall consolidation and process management of Global Capital Expenditures. This role reports to the Director of Global Operations Finance and will interact with other members of the Global FP&A and accounting organization as well as business partners across the organization as it pertains to capital expenditures management.

This position is responsible for the monthly and quarterly planning/forecasting rhythms for Operations FP&A as well as monthly variance analysis. This includes responsibility for setting the calendar to achieve plan milestones, owning and developing master templates and providing variance analysis commentary to the annual operating plan, forecasts and actual results. In addition, this position will own the Capital Expenditure approval process; responsible for the related internal controls, serve as the the key subject matter expert on D365 Project Management Reporting connected to Capital Expenditure Authorizations (CEA) and be responsible for the rollup, reporting and variance analysis of global expenditures. This role requires an individual who has a strong foundation and understanding of a financial consolidation system (HFM, Adaptive or similar systems) and a general working knowledge of how cost works in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
- Participate as a key member of the Global Operations Finance team responsible for managing the planning, forecast and monthly reporting cadences
- Ability to understand variances to actual results in the cost of goods sold area of the P&L and synthesize commentary to a higher level for reporting purposes
- Develop and implement process improvements to enable more efficient and accurate reporting
- Own the Operations master forecasting and reporting templates and serve as a subject matter expert in Adaptive Planning and HFM environments to support the broader Operations FP&A team
- Own the process of Capital Expenditure (Capex) planning, forecast and reporting of actual results and provide variance analysis when actuals differs from forecast
- Support of systems and process related to Capex approvals and transactional input to manage project results.
- Ownership of Forecast and reporting of actual results for our Global Overhead departments
- Willingness to support adhoc projects as they arise partnering with other Operations FP&A leaders in support of factory operations, Life Science operations or Supply Chain/Distribution

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Prior experience within a manufacturing environment is strongly desired.
- Strong acumen and experience with a Financial Consolidation system is a must have (HFM, Adaptive Planning or similar)
- Quickness of comprehension, ability to be self-sufficient and to understand a complex Global Chart of Accounts
- Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Teams skills (pivot tables, lookups, sumifs, graphs/charts, etc)
- Ability to work independently and proactively drive projects forward
- Ability to analyze actual vs. plan results and summarize underlying drivers of variances as well as providing clear and succinct interpretation of results to management
- Willingness to dig in to results and reconcile variances
- Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics (D365) or a similar ERP system is a plus
- Ability to work with those at all levels of the organization
- Ability to participate in multi-cultural, global operating environment
- Understanding of accounting principles, including general working knowledge of US GAAP & SOX.
