Role:

This is a Certified Law Enforcement position for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribal Police. This position will serve as a Law Enforcement Officer on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation to include the Prairie Band Casino and Resort gaming facility. A community Resource Officer (CRO) serves the community, not only as a certified Law Enforcement officer, but as a liaison between the police department and citizens it serves.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Minimum Requirements:

Driving: Must have a valid Kansas driver's license free of occupational restrictions, and must be insurable with the Nation's
insurance.

Experience: 1-2 years of law enforcement experience, or its military equivalent, with general arrest authority.

Education: HS Diploma/GED and Completion of KS Law Enforcement Basic Training Academy or an equivalent federal or state approved academy and to certify as a KS law enforcement officer within 1 year of employment.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word programs and computer/office equipment.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customers and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
