Job Purpose
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Lead a group of Automation Engineering employees in their daily activities and implement long term direction of group.
• Duties include: lead a group of employees, mentor employees, develop and review goals, coverage of programs and issues, participate in new hire selection, and assess merit raises and promotions
• Work will involve managing day to day activities of a team of engineers (direct and indirect reports), including setting objectives, managing results, and evaluating/coaching individual performance
• Develop training plan for both automation group and maintenance electricians
• Support maintenance group and take lead as required with more technical repairs.
• Ability to track, develop, and interpret metrics
• Manage plant and capital expenditures for projects plant-wide
• Maintain safety focus and drive safety improvements plant-wide
• Develop cost reduction and quality improvement projects
• Provide Engineering support of all issues in the production processes, and control design of new machines
• Lead introduction of automation to high labor cost departments
• The manager is responsible for leading and supporting continuous improvement activities
• Lead expansion of traceability and internal MES system
• Support new business planning and implementation
• Prepare and support estimates for automation on new business
Required Qualifications:
• BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent level of experience
• 7+ experience in manufacturing engineering
• Experience leading a technical team
• High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Demonstrated experience with skilled trades personnel and equipment
• Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
• Working knowledge of CAD and schematics
• Know and adhere to all applicable safety rules and procedures.
• Knowledge of products and cost, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply.
• Knowledge of manufacturing technologies to assist in always supporting the needs of the customer.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of the Dana Operating System (DOS).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies to support on-time delivery.
• Know and adhere to the policies and procedures of the environmental management system.
