As a Senior Data Engineer at Humana, you will merge the latest state, federal, and enterprise policies with the latest technologies to create new, compliance-focused products and processes. The Senior Data Engineer designs, builds, and maintains data processing architectures and solutions enabling the efficient conversion of structured and unstructured data to insights at enterprise scale. The Senior Data Engineer's work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Senior Data Engineer:

• Ingests data from internal, external, structured, and unstructured data sources utilizing cloud native platforms and software development best practices and patterns.

• Develops software tools that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big-data techniques to cleanse, organize, transform, and track data establishing insights and actions that enable Humana to better serve our members.

• Influences department’s strategy with data driven insights.

• Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.

• Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of technical experience in data analysis OR Master's degree and 3 or more years of experience

• Advanced in SQL, Python, data science, machine learning, and/or other data systems

• Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations

• Experience analyzing data to solve a wide variety of business problems and create data visualizations that drive strategic direction

• Proficiency in understanding Healthcare related data

• Proficiency in verbal and written communication to senior and executive leadership

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field

• Expertise in data mining, forecasting, simulation, and/or predictive modeling

• Experience creating analytics solutions for various healthcare sectors
