Summary
The Center for Comparative Medicine (CCM) provides for the care, health and well-being of all research animals used in the pursuit of scientific achievement and excellence at Baylor College of Medicine. CCM provides the
highest quality veterinary and animal care and acts as a resource for the faculty on veterinary and scientific issues relating to the use of laboratory animals.
Under minimal supervision, the Training Specialist performs husbandry skills trainings, assessments, and re-trainings as required and will also provide classroom and hands-on training during new hire on-boarding for CCM animal care
staff.
Job Duties
- Utilizes previously developed curricula and materials in support of training objectives.
- Participates in training facilitation via hands on instruction, technical demonstration in the vivarium, audio or video presentations or group discussion.
- Assists in evaluating training effectiveness and achievement of learning outcomes.
- Organizes training materials and environments, including spaces, equipment, handouts, presentations, new hire handbook or other visuals.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT)by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS).
- Previous research and/or animal care and handling experience.
