The Biomedical Engineering Department is looking for a Program Coordinator to join our team. This role is a fantastic opportunity to plan, coordinate and administer activities within the Duke Center for Quantitative Biodesign. The mission of the center is to promote research excellence and scholarship at the nexus of quantitative biology, synthetic biology, and machine learning.
Minimum Requirements:
- Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program OR an equivalent combination of relevant education/experience.

- Minimum of one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquires kills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.

- Strong communication.

- Strong organizational skills.
- Full command of grants and contracts systems; solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.

Essential Job Duties:
- Make operational and programmatic decisions that have a significant impact on the successful achievement of center strategies and objectives.
- Plan, coordinate and administer activities of assigned programs to include developing and implementing procedures, processes, services and systems.
- Maintain complex calendar required for the Center Director; manage appointments using independent judgment, often with senior ranking officials within and outside the University.
- Provide support for the center Director including corporate card clearing, assistance with travel arrangements, and ordering of both lab and office supplies
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of center programs (pilot grants, internships, etc) using qualitative and quantitative research techniques; investigate trends, and recommend and implement modifications to improve program effectiveness.
- Manage logistics for all center-sponsored seminars, symposiums, meetings, invited guests, and events.
- Fiscally manage all events including negotiation and execution of relevant contracts and agreements. Develop and utilize a network to market center events across Duke.
- Schedule travel arrangements and prepare itineraries for visiting speakers. The center hosts an annual symposium to bring together global leaders in various topical areas and will include conceptualizing and writing newsletters, promotional material to promote the Center’s mission.
- Coordinate public relations antivirals, publications, press releases, ads and fliers.
