Position Summary

Position:Manager, Tech Ops Engineering

We are looking for an experienced talent who is self-motivated and highly organized to lead our Shared Services systems support team.  Successful candidates will be willing to put their technical background to use, working directly with their teams to document and support our Shared Services lottery systems.

Candidates will need to be able to balance project work, problem identification, and solution implementation.  Must be comfortable working closely with development, quality assurance, and business staff to support implementations and answer technical questions.  Managing and assigning the team’s work via ticket queue and ensuring timely completion are also required.  


Successful candidates will have a technical background focused on Windows Server operations, supporting .Net web applications and services, and a basic to intermediate level of competence with SQL Server database administration tasks.  Familiarity with IIS, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, and running highly available, multi-data center solutions is highly preferred.

Job Duties / Key Accountabilities

  • Provides tier 3 support for the ESB, Shared Services, SciTrak, GemIntelligence, and GemRetailer lottery servers and services.  Supports other platforms as required.
  • Manages the tier 2 Shared Services support team.
  • Provide guidance and progress reports to upper management and procure buy-in for system changes.
  • Works with the support and development teams to identify, plan, and implement system improvements.
  • Proactively monitors servers, services, and web sites, identifying and acting on failures.
  • Coordinates after hours on-call support rotation and serves as an escalation point within that rotation.  Includes nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Assigns work via ticket system and ensures work is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Follows up on escalations and verifies solutions.
  • Maintains and creates documentation and procedures for both operations and support teams.
  • Interacts with customers, both internal and external, as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Required Skills/Knowledge

  • 5+ years working with and supporting a Windows Server and .Net web application system and services.
  • 2+ years in technical management
  • Basic experience with recent versions of SQL Server (2016+)
  • Basic understanding of network principals (TCP/UDP ports, network separation, network virtualization)
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to organize tasks in a complex environment to maximize efficient resolution of all.
  • Able to work under pressure and multi-task.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact successfully with others to convey complicated material.
  • Pro-active, dedicated, committed and responsible.

    Qualifications

    Desired Skills/Knowledge:

    It would also be advantageous if you had any of the following experience:

    • 5+ years managing a technical team.
    • Intermediate experience with recent versions of SQL Server (2016+)
    • Experience in technical operations
    • Evidence of continuing education, such as certifications, a plus
    • Knowledge or experience with internet technologies including:
      • DNS, both public and private DNS solutions and split-brain DNS management
      • Domain Management
      • Web browser dev tools
      • SSL Certificates
      • eMail technologies such as DKIM and mail server management
    • Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages
    • Experience with Ansible
    • Industry experience - either in iLottery or iGaming
