About the role

NOTE:  This position will be based in our Houston, TX office, located at the Galleria Tower 1.  The role may be eligible for hybrid work.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Manager, Project Controls reports to Director of PMCoE and oversees the people, processes, and tools used for controlling NuScale projects. This includes including earned value management, planning, scheduling, cost estimating, change management, and budgeting. The manager leads a team of project controls professionals, implements best practices, and supports decision-making through data-driven insights.  Project Controls resources support project managers and project directors to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with organizational process, policies, standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project controls professionals (project control specialists) who are assigned to projects. Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional growth within the team.  Manage staffing needs, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention strategies. 
  2. Establish and maintain tools and standards for the development and maintenance of integrated project schedules and cost baselines.  Implement a graded controls approach based on project size and complexity. Provide oversight to project teams to ensure quality and consistency of earned value management baselines, forecasts, and change control.  Oversee establishment of key performance indicators (KPIs) for project health (e.g., SPI, CPI etc). 
  3. Coordinate with other corporate stakeholders (e.g., Procurement, Finance, Accounting) on requirements for and information needs from projects. Lead the design and development of progress reports for senior management and other stakeholders.  Utilize dashboards and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau) for real-time insights.  Facilitate effective communication and alignment across departments and project teams to ensure effective implementation of project controls functions.
  4. Continuously improve project controls methodologies, processes, standards, and tools to enhance effectiveness and efficiency, leveraging lessons learned, benchmarking, and best practices.  Perform period organizational assessments.  Drive digital transformation initiatives (e.g., automation, AI, advanced analytics) in collaboration with PMCoE.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Quality Assurance:  Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
