The Senior Regulatory Legal Counsel will be expected to advise on payments licensing and regulatory matters, and interact with payment regulators.</p> <p><strong>Key responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Coordinate, plan and execute Thunes’ payment licensing applications globally, and support Thunes’ global expansion strategy by horizon scanning on key prospective markets, and by researching and evaluating the requirements/costs for new licenses and/or the expansion of existing licenses.</li> <li>Advise on all regulatory issues associated with Thunes.</li> <li>Partner closely with sales, product, treasury, tech and marketing teams in relation to the development of existing and/or new payments products/services, including reviewing fund and information flows and product documentation, so as to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.</li> <li>Collaborate within the legal and compliance teams to ensure applicable contract templates and compliance processes are in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.</li> <li>Assist with communication with regulators globally.</li> <li>Keep up-to-date with regulatory developments in the financial services space and provide periodic updates to senior management and key business functions on such developments</li> <li>Manage and liaise with external counsels on legal, licensing and regulatory matters.</li> <li>Represents Thunes in local and international gatherings of financial regulators where required.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What we are looking for</strong></p> <ul> <li>Qualified to practice law ideally in the UK and/or France, with minimum 5+ years of relevant post-qualification experience (either in-house in the fintech/payments industry or international law firm).</li> <li>Global exposure in the payments space and experience in supporting licensed payment entities</li> <li>Prior experience in engaging with payments regulators (UK FCA and/or French ACPR is preferred), and advising/assisting with payments license applications in multiple countries and regions</li> <li>Deep knowledge of payments regulations in multiple jurisdictions (e.g. compliance and AML rules, money transmission, safeguarding and regulatory reporting requirements etc.).</li> <li>Understanding of payments products and legal principles pertaining to the payments ecosystem, regulatory and licensing strategy, and horizon scanning of new markets</li> <li>Comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment / culture and able to offer creative and practical solutions to overcome licensing and regulatory hurdles.</li> <li>Ability to project manage and deliver on multiple high-priority projects concurrently, and capable of exercising independent judgment on governance, risk, regulatory and legal matters.</li> <li>Proactive, self-motivated team player who always strives for better ways of doing things, without settling for the status quo.</li> <li>Strong command of English (spoken and written).</li> </ul> <p> </p>
