Position Profile: The Withdrawal Management Co-Director is responsible for providing clinical leadership and supervision to the nursing staff within the detox program at Milestone. This role involves coordinating and overseeing nursing activities, ensuring high-quality client care, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and serves as a key point of coordination with the rest of Milestone Recovery. The Nursing Co-Director will work in partnership with the Withdrawal Management Co-Director (Counseling) to lead the interdisciplinary treatment team to optimize client outcomes. This person will serve on the overall agency leadership team and report to the Clinical Director. 


Qualifications Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, a minimum of two (2) year(s) clinical experience and current State of Maine licensure as a Registered Nurse. Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification. Has a history of working with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and knowledge of Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel). Has a willingness and desire to work collaboratively with the leadership team to solve issues and improve both the quality and the quantity of recovery services to our clients. Experience with chronic substance use disorder and/or mental illness is a plus. 


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:   

  • Provide clinical guidance, leadership, and support to the nursing staff within the program. 
  • Oversee and coordinate nursing schedule and activities, ensuring adherence to established protocols, policies, and procedures. 
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of nursing staff, providing regular feedback and coaching to all staff. 
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and professional growth. 
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality and compassionate client care within the detox program, in accordance with evidence-based practices and professional standards. 
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, medication administration guidelines, and client safety protocols.  
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date client records, assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.  
  • Assist in collection and analysis of data related to client outcomes, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation processes. 
  • Omnicell superuser and manage other users, issue passwords 
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team, including physicians, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure effective communication and coordination of client care.  
  • Act as a liaison between the nursing staff and the Provider of the day, conveying information, concerns, and suggestions for program improvement. 
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, providing input and expertise on nursing-related matters. 
  • Stay updated on current trends, research, and best practices in addiction nursing and incorporate them into the program’s policies and procedures.  
  • Update SOP's & Emergency Plans with support from Counseling Co-Director 
  • KIPU superuser, for creation, and editing of forms, manage users and lock outs 
  • Serve as point of contact for pharmacy business operations 
  • Work in partnership with Withdrawal Management Counseling Co-Director to develop and implement program budget. 
  • Hold ultimate responsibility for treatment decisions for clients within the program with a willingness to collaborate with Counseling Co-Director when issues around client(s) are clinical in nature. 
  • Manage callouts from nursing staff and assist with on call coverage. 
  • Accept and perform other duties as assigned. 


Compensation: Compensation for this position ranges from $85,000 - $90,000 annually, based on experience.
