Overview: Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) has an opening in our Building Envelope Department. UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.
SummaryThe position of the Structural Engineer level entails work including the evaluation of existing condition, the design of structural repair and envelope of protection systems, the management of bidding and construction processes, field observation/verification of work in process, and close client and contractor interaction.Additional responsibility may also include conducting Milestone (MIP) and Structural Integrity Reserve Study (SIRS) required by newly established law (SB-4D).If you’re reliable, have a good work ethic, and can cooperate with co-workers and clients respectfully, this is the position for you.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design construction projects
- Analyze engineering design problems
- Calculate engineering specifications
- Confer with engineering, technical, or manufacturing personnel
- Draw prototypes, plans required for the job.
- Read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Use computer-aided drafting or design software for design, drafting, modeling, or other engineering tasks.
- Ensure conformance to building regulations.
- Evaluate construction quality
- Inspect project operations or site to determine specifications compliance.
- Interpret property for construction, condition or design.
- Recognize construction industry codes or symbols or blueprints.
- Understand construction specifications.
- Understand engineering data or reports.
- Use field notes in technical drawings.
- Create mathematical or statistical diagram or charts.
- Draw maps or charts.
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies
- Other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
- Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
- Must be able to read and interpret plans, blueprints and specifications.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Active Engineering Intern License
- 3+ years experience in the industry
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience completing structural inspections
- Ms in Civil Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E. License)
