Capability Unit 

Metrea Strategic Mobility (MSM) operates a fleet of KC-135 aircraft, offering an air-to-air refueling service that seamlessly, safely, and professionally integrates into military aviation training and operations. 

 

Position Summary 

The Head of Airworthiness is responsible for the management and continuing airworthiness of the assigned fleet ensuring that all aircraft are maintained in accordance with the approved maintenance/inspection plan and that any work is conducted by approved maintenance organizations. The Head of Airworthiness will lead the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) and is responsible for ensuring the ongoing airworthiness of aircraft. The Head of Airworthiness’ responsibilities, which will be delegated to experienced and competent personnel in the CAMO.


Role and Responsibilities 

  • Maintenance Planning: 
    1. Develop and manage the aircraft maintenance program. 
    2. Generate work packages for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. 
  • Records Management: (managed in Veryon and SPO)
    1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities. 
    2. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for record-keeping.
  • Engineering: 
    1. Analyse in-service information and assess Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins (SBs). 
    2. Provide technical solutions to maintenance issues in collaboration with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). 
  • Reliability Monitoring: 
    1. Monitor the reliability of the aircraft and its components. (Maint/Production Control)
       Implement corrective actions based on reliability data to improve safety and performance
  • Liaison with Authorities: 
    1. Act as the primary point of contact with aviation authorities on behalf of the aircraft owner. 
    2. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and facilitate audits and
    3. inspections Maint/Production Control.
  • Incident and Defect Management: 
    1. Investigate and manage incidents and defects. 
    2. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and ensure safety. do we do this?
  • Training and Competence: 
    1. Ensure that all personnel involved in continuing airworthiness management are adequately trained and competent. 
    2. Conduct regular training and assessments to maintain high standards.

Skills and Experience 

  • Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of: 
  1. Relevant parts of operational requirements and procedures. 
  2. The AOC holder's operations specifications when applicable.
  3. The need for, and content of, the relevant parts of the AOC holder's operations manual when applicable. 
  • Knowledge of QMS and SMS.
  • Knowledge of maintenance methods.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations. 
  • Five years relevant work experience of which at least two years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position. 
  • Relevant engineering degree or an aircraft maintenance technician qualification with additional education acceptable to the applicable regulatory authority, or 5 years of experience additional to those already recommended above. These 5 years should cover an appropriate combination of experience in tasks related to aircraft maintenance and/or continuing airworthiness management and/or surveillance of such tasks.
  • Thorough knowledge with the organization's continuing airworthiness management policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of a relevant sample of the type(s) of aircraft gained through a formalized training course, at least at a level equivalent to Level 1 General Familiarization.
