SUMMARY: 

Pierre Fabre Pharmaceuticals is Pierre Fabre’s US subsidiary and is committed to building an organization centered on patients and purpose. As such, it has created a Patient Affairs team with a bold and expansive mandate: to have direct accountability for all patient-facing initiatives across the US organization and influence on non-patient activities that require patient perspectives. The team is responsible for establishing, championing, and overseeing all strategic and operational aspects of patient experience and enables patient experience sightline across the organization. Our mandate spans advocacy, Patient Support Services, all aspects of patient education, director to consumer promotion, and culture.  The Patient Affairs team will position PFP as a leader in patient-centered treatment in the US market with a focus on building a positive reputation amongst patients, advocacy, and HCPs alike. 

Reporting to the VP, Head of Patient Affairs, the Sr/Exec Director, Patient Advocacy and Disease State Initiatives will oversee all elements of patient advocacy and disease-state education. This person will define the company’s patient advocacy priorities and establish and evolve long-term relationships/collaborations with patient advocacy groups, professional associations and non-profit organizations.  The objective of the role is to educate and activate patients to seek optimal care, break down barriers to patient access, and bring patient insights into the company.  In addition to establishing advocacy priorities and relationships, this role will be responsible for the development and distribution of all disease state patient education materials and defining policy-shaping opportunities. Finally, this role will work across PFP teams to bring the voice of the patient to the broader PFP’s organization.

The initial focus of this role will be on allogeneic cell therapy and PTLD. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with the executive team to formulate and execute comprehensive and compliant strategic plans for advocacy and professional society engagement plans, patient-facing disease state educational initiatives, and policy development:

Establish and Engage Advocacy and Patient Community

  • Cultivate enduring relationships with leading patient organizations; Identify and engage a group of advocacy orgs, professional societies, and patients and support them in their journey to establish a PTLD community.
  • Explore the development of the PFP patient council to ensure appropriate patient engagement.
  • Collaborate with patient community to generate patient-experience data that shapes clinical practice and advances access.
  • Identify and execute further advocacy community engagements (e.g. policy issue definition, lobbying opportunities, rare disease day, etc.).
  • Manage and execute programs that engage patient advocacy and professional provider groups including, but not limited to, disease awareness campaigns, patient support initiatives, clinical trial recruitment and public policy work.
  • Represent PFP and ensure appropriate cross functional support for external organization events.

Oversee Disease State Initiatives

  • Engage with the advocacy community to co-create disease state education content that resonates with patients and supports patient self-advocacy and enable dissemination through advocacy organizations.
  • Own the development and execution of patient-facing disease state education materials and initiatives, including MLR review.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. IT, legal/regulatory, commercial).

Identify and provide input on Patient Relevant Policy Shaping Initiatives :

  • Provide expert insights and advice on policy trends, legislative changes, and strategic opportunities.
  • Monitor relevant policy and public affairs issues, providing briefing notes etc. to support decision making.
