ROLE SUMMARY 

 

The Director of Construction position exists to champion Nando’s USA and its expansion in all forms while ensuring the protection and health of the brand.  This position will lead and oversee the construction of new restaurants and renovations of existing Nando’s, ensuring that restaurant design, buildouts and renovations are completed on time and within budget. The Director of Construction will work closely with and learn from senior members of the organization as well as contribute to the overall culture and growth of Nando’s USA by providing direction and expert council across the Construction Team as well as cross functionally to other departments.  As with all Nandocas, the Director of Construction will be expected to have a deep appreciation and joy of working with people.   The essential functions of this position as well as experience requirements are mapped out below:  

 

KEY FOCUS AREAS 

Leadership & Team Management: 

• Lead and mentor a team of Construction Managers and Coordinators, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. 

• Foster a positive, results-oriented team culture that promotes collaboration, accountability, and a shared commitment to Nando's values and goals. 

• Establish clear performance expectations, track progress, and ensure the team consistently meets or exceeds project milestones and KPIs. 

• Oversee the hiring and management of external vendors and general contractors, ensuring they meet performance standards, timelines, and quality expectations. 

• Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, offer support, and ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to. 

Project & Construction Oversight: 

• Manage and oversee the entire construction process for multiple concurrent projects, from initial concept through project completion and handover. 

• Collaborate with architects, designers, and construction teams to review architectural drawings, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with Nando’s operational and design standards. 

• Develop and implement construction plans, schedules, and procedures to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. 

• Lead project teams through key milestones, including site evaluations, handovers, openings, and post-open punch lists, ensuring all project deliverables are met. 

• Identify potential risks early in the project lifecycle and implement mitigation strategies to address issues related to budget, schedule, quality, and safety. 

Financial Management & Budgeting: 

• Develop, manage, and track project budgets to ensure cost control and financial accountability.
