This role supports the Adventist Health Central Coast Service Area and Adventist Health Southern California Network.

Job Summary:

Provides executive leadership in the operational and financial success of the local physician ambulatory enterprise. Oversees the strategic growth of the physician and ambulatory service clinics, with quality that results in top quartile results. Directs the programs and strategies resulting in successful matrix, quality, patient experience and financial results. Collaborates with leadership in ambulatory services to implement AHPS/AHPN strategies in concert with Care Division strategy. Works closely with hospital leaders to implement strategic program initiatives for physician and ambulatory services. Adheres to organization's missions and philosophy as well as standard policies and procedures. Manages financial responsibilities such as expense management, productivity management, budgeting and financial planning. Actively participates for preparation along with team members for licensing, accreditation and regularly scheduled surveys.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Ten years' technical experience: Preferred
  • Five years' leadership experience: Preferred
  • Experience in relating to team members and bringing about change where needed and giving direction to accommodate the needs of the community in all programs developed or current: Preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, develops, implements, and monitors ambulatory strategic programs for effective utilization of resources and the achievement of the department’s objectives in the provision of health care and improvement of community health status. Collaborates directly with staff, directors, clinical medical directors, and administration to strategically grow ambulatory programs ensuring that goals are met for the delivery of high-quality access to care and cost-effective healthcare services which are aligned with AHPS & hospital strategic goals.
  • Develops and executes the ambulatory physician alignment strategy (in partnership with hospital leadership). Hires and retains qualified ambulatory leaders. Aligns and participates in employee and physician engagement efforts. Participates with local executive team on strategic planning. Actively participates on strategy and achievement of AHPS ambulatory KPI’s.
  • Leads physician recruitment and retention activity. Participates in physician contracting process (PCAT) with local hospital Finance Officer (FO). Negotiates ambulatory physician contracts in cooperation with Market FO. Collaborates with hospital partner in the development of the physician office acquisition strategy.
  • Participates in PCAT\BRC review meetings. Serves on hospital committees, as appropriate, representing ambulatory clinics. Participates in AHPS leadership meetings at corporate office, as appropriate. Serves in hospital community service organizations, and participates in director meetings and retreats, as appropriate. Participates in corporate office events such as AHLC and mission day.
  • Maintains and pursues education to ensure all regulatory laws and cutting-edge practices are used as needed and deemed eligible. Serves as expert source of knowledge for ambulatory clinic operations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
