Position Summary

Samsung Ads, the advertising monetization arm of Samsung Electronics, leverages proprietary real-time TV viewing behavior and insights to promote relevant brands and content experiences to consumers. We partner with brands, agencies and content owners to deliver unique advertising opportunities on native placements within our Smart TV platform and programmatically with a cross device solution.

Samsung’s unique first party data help brands connect to their audience as they explore content across desktop, mobile, tablets and our Smart TVs. The Samsung Ad platform delivers high-quality audience targeting powered by three key components: first-party audience data at scale, world-class data science, and brand-safe cross-device ad inventory.

Role and Responsibilities

We are in search of an experienced and forward-thinking VP of Machine Learning to lead our Platform Intelligence (AI/ML) engineering team at Samsung Ads. This role is crucial for advancing our AI/ML technology and organization by overseeing the implementation and deployment of cutting-edge ML models and algorithms to enhance our ML-powered advertising solutions and products at scale and ensure the success of the business.

The Platform Intelligence (AI/ML) team at Samsung Ads is a dedicated engineering team that covers end-to-end AI/ML engineering functions, including ML models and algorithms, ML training platform, ML serving platform, Data Science, and MLOps. Your role is to inspire, lead, and grow a world-class ML team globally.

At Samsung Ads, AI/ML has matured to the point where it contributes to various upper-funnel and lower-funnel advertising products. Our plan is to enhance and grow our business more than ever using advanced AI/ML technology. You will be leading over 100 brilliant AI/ML engineers globally and building solid ML technology and teams for the scalable success of our business goals.

 

Role & Responsibilities

● Lead the strategic direction and execution of AI/ML initiatives at Samsung Ads, centered around data-centric approach and state-of-the-art AI/ML algorithms.

● Provide visionary leadership for state-of-the-art AI/ML technologies and constantly innovate AI/ML capabilities and Samsung Ads product lines.

● Identify and prioritize AI/ML trends and opportunities that will drive the company’s business growth and competitive edge above and beyond.

● Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing global team of AI/ML engineers, ensuring high standards in AI/ML engineering and quality practices, speed of delivery, design ML architecture, and commercialization quality.

● Oversee the design and development of advanced ML models, ensure real-time ML serving requirements, and implement a modern ML training platform and framework.

● Oversee project lifecycles, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.

● Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring the implementation of cutting-edge AI/ML technologies.

● Partner with executive leaders across the board and ensure the seamless integration of AI/ML solutions into various advertising product lines.

Skills and Qualifications

● PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, and Eectrical Engineering with 12+ years of experience, including a track record of successful industry experience of more than 5 years.

● Build, grow, and nurture a team of world-class AI/ML engineering teams.

● Proven industry experience in advertising, recommendation, ranking, search, e-Commerce, and complex data science areas.

● Strong commercialization experience building and applying AI/ML models for real-world business applications.

● Proven ability to implement, operate, and deliver results via innovation at a large scale.

● Demonstrated track record of cultivating strong working relationships with executive leadership and driving collaboration across multiple technical and business teams that are geographically dispersed.
