What You Will Contribute to Altos
An exciting opportunity is available for a Scientist or Senior Scientist to join Altos Labs. The incumbent in this position will help develop and execute projects that develop the capabilities for precise perturbations and measurements of biological networks. These technologies will be used for biological investigations ranging from developmental processes to stress response pathways. Responsibilities include:- Study through theory and computation the mechanistic basis of cell health and rejuvenation
- Study through targeted experimentation the mechanistic basis of cell health and rejuvenation
- Develop project-specific strategies, techniques, and procedures
- Assist PI with training lab members, including scientists and technicians
- Contribute to the writing and dissemination of research results
- Carry out research projects in collaboration with the PI
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in molecular biology, engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or related discipline
- Documented record of high quality research as exemplified by publications in peer reviewed journals
- Excellent experimental skills in methods of cellular engineering and synthetic biology (e.g., optogenetics)
- Google apps, Excel, and Powerpoint graphic skills to produce documents and manage projects
- Excellent professional writing skills and the ability to attune through writing and presentations to a variety of audiences including senior executives
- Problem-solving skills sufficient to identify issues, conduct research, and develop innovative solutions
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with a broad range of people, especially experimental collaborators, including staff colleagues, lab members, faculty, outside agencies and collaborators, and the community
- Demonstrated high productivity and ability to complete work in a timely manner
- Ability to organize work and set priorities
- Ability to focus on details to produce rigorous, accurate, quality work driven by deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and with others in a team
- Strengths in dealing with ambiguity
- Proven working experience of advanced methods of data analysis, as well as dynamical systems, control theory or other theoretical concepts
- Excellent computer skills, including advanced proficiency with different programming languages
Salary range: Scientist I, 120,700 - 163,300; Scientist II, 142,000 - 211,950; Senior Scientist, 157,000 - 253,200
