Job Description

NBCUniversal’s Operations & Technology (O&T) group is the shared services organization that provides the company with a broad portfolio of services and capabilities including media and studio operations, international operations, real estate, infrastructure, security and technology. The O&T group provides global support to NBCUniversal with a 2000+ strong workforce and is a critical to the growth and success of the company.

NBCUniversal’s Strategic Business Operations team operates as a central program operations group embedded across Ad Sales, Distribution, Marketing, Research, Technology, Legal, and HR as trusted partners working together to implement strategic programs throughout the enterprise in order to effectively close gaps between central business and technology groups across a variety of projects.  We work to provide relevant insights & structure across our diverse portfolio to power intelligent business decisions required in order to compete within today’s highly complex multi-platform & fragmented media landscape.

The Director, Strategic Business Legal Operations will support the entire legal function, including the NBCU Legal Operations, Litigation & Compliance, Employment & Labor Law, Rights IP, Legal Affairs groups.  This leader will be responsible for building and developing a strategy for NBCUniversal’s Legal Technology.

The candidate will be expected to understand best practices in Legal Operations & Tools to assist in the development of the Legal Operations strategy and applications roadmap development of the NBCU Legal organization. The legal technology marketplace is going through significant change and this leader is expected to know global trends in legal operations and applications to ensure strategic direction in tool usage, improved user experience, simplified architecture, while ensuring a compliant and secure landscape.

The candidate will be the primary business engagement leader, working across multiple business partners ensuring risk management and issue mitigation, while also developing multi-year strategic planning and roadmap alignment.

The candidate will also own the delivery of new technology which includes discovery, scope, defining project phases and budget for initial build & on-going support, vendor selection and working with Product, Engineering and Architecture peer groups. This role is also responsible to establish & own the support team for on-going post go-live support & solution improvements.

This role requires working flexible hours to support business partners globally.

Qualifications

• Global Legal Operations / Technology experience 7+ years
• Define a strategy and approach for the legal applications landscape, including managing RFPs, implementations, ongoing maintenance, and support for legal applications
• Gather and compile project information, define project success measures and measure project output against those KPIs
• Own business engagement for Legal technology
• Evaluate, communicate, champion, and provide business cases (including identification and mitigation of project risks) for new services and projects that increase effectiveness and enhance the value being created by Legal Operations
• Lead and support Legal Operations projects realized
• Develop project and program structures to manage project execution
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to speak/present with legal industry vocabulary and translate into workable legal applications solutions
• Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems from an accredited institution or equivalent
• Demonstrate best practice knowledge for Global Corporate Legal applications in a multi-country environment.
