Duties and Responsibilities:

Plans and delivers lessons to promote students’ English language development.

Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of EL/MLs across content areas through the Sheltered Instruction and the English Language Development program models.

Administers formative and summative assessments to monitor language progress and ensure student achievement.

Completes documentation required for compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Completes daily logs of student services.

Attends regular Professional Development offerings.

Be available for afternoon and evening parent-teacher conferences and school events.

Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
Candidates for English Language (EL) Teacher posititons shoudl preferably hold a Culterally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Education endorsement,. Minimally, candidates for this positon must be on an apprroved pathway for gaining licensure and obtian a CLD endorsement within 2 years of certification.

Demonstrates knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory, second language learning patterns, and best practices in English language development.

Reflects an awareness and acceptance of cultural differences exhibited by the students and their families.

Possesses those characteristics necessary for acting as an advocate for multilingual families within the school.

Read, analyze, and interpret student academic data.

Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with classroom teachers, administration, and families.

$61,981 to $67,706 will be the pay range and is commensurate with experience, education, and market as defined by NHA. The pay range listed is just one component of NHA's total compensation package.
