Job Description

The SMSU Exercise Science Program, as a part of the Science Department, is looking for someone to teach Anatomical Kinesiology and Biomechanics in our Twin Cities Partnership Program. Starting AY 2025-26, the faculty member’s primary teaching responsibilities include teaching Anatomical Kinesiology in-person on two campuses, Anoka Ramsey Community College (ARCC) and Century College and Biomechanics on three campuses ARCC, Century College, and North Hennepin Community College.  The successful candidate will have opportunities to teach other courses in his/her area on a rotating basis dependent upon enrollment and need. Additional responsibilities include active participation in activities that support the Exercise Science program and Science department, including student advising and promotion of SMSU in the Twin Cities (recruitment and retention).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Sciences, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach at the undergraduate level.

Preferred Qualification 

  • PhD. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Sciences, or related fields.

  • Competence in science pedagogy.

  • Demonstrated abilities/competence in instructional technology and online instruction

  • Student-centered approach to education and a commitment to helping grow the exercise science program in the Twin Cities.

  • Must have an understanding and appreciation for liberal education. The University is committed to fostering a global perspective. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from diverse backgrounds.
