Job Description:
This is professional services work involving the application of generally accepted accounting theories, principles, methods, practices, and terminology. Duties for this position consist of processing and monitoring cash receipts, accounts receivable, and payables for the Maine State Ferry Service utilizing both MaineDOT's and the State of Maine's accounting systems. The Staff Accountant is responsible for working with Maine State Ferry Service personnel to assist with any other financial processing or administrative needs, resolving issues with the revenue reports from their ticketing system, Rocket Rez. This position will also maintain inventory and fixed assets, track fuel costs, and cross train in duties for other Multimodal accounts and processes.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Education, training, and/or experience in accounting, business administration, financial planning, budgeting, or another related field demonstrating competency in analyzing data and records, interpreting policies, rules, and laws, identifying process and procedure deficiencies, and developing practical solutions.
