Summary:

Under the direction of the Clinical Laboratory Management, the Supervisor is accountable for ensuring that appropriate and timely specimen handling, delivery, specimen testing, results reporting and customer service are provided in an efficient and cost effective manner in accordance with laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. The Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring that all laboratory procedures being performed in areas of responsibility will comply with all regulatory, accrediting, and licensure requirements.

- Shift: Days, Monday- Friday, rotating weekends!
- Looking for candidates with generalist experience, with specific experience in chemistry analyzers and quality control troubleshooting highly preferred

Responsibilities:

Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.Perform method validations and ongoing method assessments.Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.Reports test results in a timely manner according to established laboratory protocols.Assess competency of team members.Assesses quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with regulatory and departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols.Oversees inventory management and provides input into the budget process.Assists with the development of training material and the competency assessment tools used by the department and ensure that all associated documentation is kept up to date.Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels. Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.Effectively manages resources such as productivity, supplies, instruments and equipment. Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner.Establishes policies, procedures, and protocols for testing performed in a defined laboratory section(s). Defines analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and reference ranges for test methods. Oversees quality control testing and instrument maintenance.

Education and Certification Requirements:

Bachelors (Required)Clinical Lab Supervisor License (SU LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Intermediate knowledge of laboratory procedures and instrumentation. Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers. Intermediate knowledge of laboratory information systems. Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Five (5) years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Other Information: ** Florida State licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in the defined area of responsibility.Additional Education Info: Graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist program, or accredited Histotechnology program.
