The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Associate Space Communications Systems Engineer Analyst to join the team in El Segundo, CA to support Programs within the Space, Intelligence & Weapon Systems Division.

As a Space Communications Systems Engineer Analyst, you will contribute to the design and analysis of space systems at all stages of program execution including business development, preliminary and critical design, validation and verification and operations. You will be joining an analysis group whose main functions are to analyze RF links, compute capacity, and perform waveform analysis for space-based communications systems.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to assist with analyses, design, development and verification of a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.

  • Assists with analyses to evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.

  • Assists with various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.

  • Assists with analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location. Occasional travel may be required due to business needs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • Experience developing or using mathematical models and data to show compliance to system requirements

  • Experience with one or more of the following: analyzing RF links, communications capacity analysis, or performing waveform analysis for space-based communications systems

  • Skilled in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, MATLAB, C++, or Java

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance

  • Experience developing and maintaining requirements analysis documents (RADs) or algorithm description documents (ADDs)

  • Experience in all three areas: analyzing RF links, communications capacity analysis, and performing waveform analysis for space-based communications systems

  • Development on tools or simulation that implement solutions to technical problems within RF links, communications capacity analysis, or waveform analysis

Successful candidate for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
