Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Equipment Engineer to support Tukwila, WA supporting Puget Sound locations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops program and project equipment requirements.  
  • Validates analysis of technical data, influences product engineering design and makes for robotics, automation or technical recommendations to support production system integration for aerospace products and ground support equipment.
  • Leads the creation and modification of equipment definitions at the program level.
  • Executes project plans, provides input to Make/Buy decisions and partners with Procurement to meet program schedule, cost and quality targets.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads gated reviews and develops plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance and spares.
  • Validates contractual performance milestones.
  • Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation.
  • Conducts studies and make recommendation for disposition of assets.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar Engineering degree
  • 3+ years of experience as an equipment engineer

Preferred qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing techniques
  • Experience working in an Equipment or Tooling Engineer role
  • Experience working in a production environment
  • Experience using CAD programs.
  • Experience with programming, integrating or troubleshooting industrial controls from OEMs.
  • Experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems
  • Experience in Automation and robotics
  • Ability to collaborate with both the engineering work force and the mechanics on the factory floor
  • Project management knowledge

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Travel:

Local travel (South Puget Sound) is required based on business needs. Some domestic travel may be necessary.
