Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity and immediate need on the United States Air Force (USAF) E-7 Program for an Electrical Systems Design Engineer in Tukwila, WA

As a member of the USAF E-7 Electrical Power Engineering team you will be working in a highly dynamic team environment developing electrical power design for both the aircraft primary power system - Electrical Power Generation System (EPGS) and the aircraft secondary power system - Secondary Power Distribution System (SPDS).  This position requires working with suppliers to provide qualified hardware as well as working with the program wiring team to design the aircraft power system.  This position will support lab test, aircraft build, flight test and operational support.

The E-7 is the world’s most advanced, capable and reliable Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platform, having proven itself in operations around the world.

The aircraft is designed to track multiple airborne and maritime targets simultaneously. It can provide situational awareness and direct other assets such as fighter jets and warships.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements for EPGS and SPDS components and software

  • Leads and coordinates work to analyzes and translates requirements into system architecture, hardware designs and interface specifications

  • Leads work to tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements

  • Oversees the team that monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements in the development and production of EPGS and SPDS components and software

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle

  • Troubleshoot USAF E-7 EPGS and SPDS. Authors and updates Specification Control Drawings (SCDs), Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)

  • Compile and review certification documents to demonstrate compliance with relevant electrical systems related airworthiness requirements including; Electrical load analysis (ELA) documents Develops and maintains relationships with teammates, peers, and supplier counterparts

  • Reports progress and elevates issues to manager as required

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position is a hybrid position that allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite 3 days a week in Tukwila, WA USA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 9+ years of experience in engineering

  • Strong organization and communication skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):  

  • Experience with aircraft electrical systems design

  • Experience compiling ELA, ICD, and System Definition Document (SDD)

  • Experience with aircraft power systems. Experience with troubleshooting aircraft electrical systems
