About the Opportunity
Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a potential mission-critical program for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). This role is ideal for a cloud security professional who thrives in highly regulated DoD environments and enjoys shaping secure cloud architectures from design through deployment.

As the Cybersecurity Cloud SME, you will play a key role in ensuring cloud-hosted systems are securely designed, compliant, and resilient against evolving threats—while guiding teams through the ATO process and strengthening overall cloud security posture.

Location: Remote
Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and review secure cloud solutions in alignment with DoD cybersecurity requirements
  • Evaluate existing cloud security policies and recommend enhancements across:
    • Protection
    • Detection
    • Continuous monitoring
    • Incident response
  • Apply current cloud security engineering best practices and stay ahead of emerging cloud-based threats
  • Provide cybersecurity guidance through system design, deployment, and accreditation
  • Ensure all cloud solutions comply with applicable DoD and federal cybersecurity standards
  • Provide technical leadership to teams conducting cybersecurity vulnerability assessments in cloud environments
  • Support and advise on Authority to Operate (ATO) efforts for cloud-hosted systems
Required Qualifications
  • Top Secret clearance (IT-I eligibility required)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience achieving ATOs in a cloud environment (OCI, AWS, Azure, or similar)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting ATOs for compartmented DoD IT systems
  • Active cloud certification (OCI, AWS, Azure, or equivalent)
  • Extensive knowledge of FedRAMP assessment methodology
  • Hands-on experience working with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
