Full-time -Day shift- 6:00am - 2:30 PM Monday-Friday | No holidays, rotating weekend call

Location: Newark, Delaware

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as liaison between SPD and OR to maintain workflow.  Must be willing and able to foster positive work relationships with ANM’s and surgeons. Collaborates with Clinical Team Leaders, SPD and surgical resources coordinator to resolve issues, identify and recommend instruments purchase to eliminate future conflicts.

  • Works with CS Educator to develop in-service education programs as needed.

  • Assesses supplies required for prescribed standard surgical procedures and sets up case carts. maintains inventory, collects, disassembles, inspects, cleans, disinfects and reassembles all instrument trays patient care equipment.  Communicates with the CSS staff prior to the cases to ascertain specific instrument and supply needs and ensures these items are available. Must be able to resolve issues or offer alternatives when necessary.

  • Makes recommendations for the maintenance of Physician preference cards.

  • Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills. Serves, manages, and supports internal and external customers. Develops and improves skills through initiative, attendance and participation at educational programs. (5 percent)

  • Conforms and adheres to department policies concerning decontamination, sterile processing, infection control and safety.

Actively participates in the role of preceptor for student Sterile processing technicians and assists with the development of new preceptors in their role. Seeks opportunities to share expertise with other members of the healthcare team within and beyond the clinical unit/department.
