The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for the accounting activities for various AgriBusiness business units in accordance with GAAP and corporate accounting policies including timely and accurate financial reporting, operations analysis, capital planning, and business forecasting.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain proper accounting procedures and controls for various locations in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies
• Preparation of monthly closing activities for assigned areas of responsibility
• Assist in the preparation of weekly profit estimates and operating statistics as required 
• Participate in the preparation of annual overhead, capital budgets, and quarterly operating forecasts for assigned areas of responsibility as needed
• Understanding and review of contract entry, pricing, hedging, ticket entry and application, void processing, freight payments, and accounts receivable
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Minimum Education

• Bachelors degree (Accounting or Accounting Concentration)

Experience Requirements

• 5 - 7 years of accounting experience 
• Must have Agriculture and Commodity experience

Experience Preferred

• Strong math and analytical skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of GAAP
• Understanding of systems and software applications.
• Knowledge of Agribusiness and/or manufacturing

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

• Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings
• May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
• May need to access files, supplies, and equipment.
