Job Description
The Research Assistant reflects NM's mission, vision, and values, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Administering a variety of instruments to evaluate functional levels of psychiatric patients.
- Coordinate research activities, e.g., establishes a database, schedules interview, sends mailings, conducts literature searches, retrieves journal articles and books, drafts letters, ordering materials.
- Collects, enters, and analyzes data.
- Familiar with software packages, i.e., spreadsheets (4th dimension), Endnotes, and statistical packages for the Social Sciences (SPSS, SAS, and STATVIEW), is desirable.
- Knowledge of Macintosh DOS, and Unix operating systems is also desirable.
- Tracking and follow-up of study participants when appropriate.
- Establishes and maintains project and subject files in paper and computer form as appropriate.
- Trains appropriate personnel in the protocols established for the project.
- Supervision and follow-up of trainees may also be required.
- Interfaces with individuals (teachers, case worker, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists) and departments affected by the research projects being conducted or who may need to utilize the results of the research.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology
- Knowledgeable of statistics and research design, grant writing, intermediate to advanced computer skills.
Preferred:
- Prefer experience interviewing patients.
