Are you passionate about journalism and ready to lead a dynamic newsroom? IRSC Public Media is looking for a dedicated News Director to oversee all news content, both on-air and online. This is your chance to make a significant impact on our community by delivering timely and relevant news.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Newsroom: Manage and oversee the IRSC Public Media Newsroom and all news content.
Content Creation: Prepare and oversee news and public affairs reports and interviews on local and regional issues.
Community Engagement: Develop and maintain contacts with community leaders and activists.
Emergency Coverage: Provide coverage during special and emergency events such as elections, public forums, and natural disasters.
Digital Presence: Manage news content on our websites and social media platforms.
Specific Duties:
Online and Social Media: Prepare and publish stories on our website and social media platforms.
On-Air Duties: Perform staff announcing duties and read local newscasts daily.
Technical Skills: Operate studio and remote equipment, maintain wire services, and conduct audio interviews.
In-Depth Reporting: Write, edit, and produce in-depth news and public affairs reports.
Live Coverage: Perform live coverage of special events and maintain an archive of all locally produced reports.
Community Reports: Develop quarterly and weekly reports on community issues and local programs.
24/7 Availability: Be on call 24/7 to cover community emergencies and special news events.

Job Description:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Managing and overseeing the IRSC Public Media Newsroom and all news content - both on-the-air and online.
Preparing and overseeing news and public affairs reports and interviews on issues of local and/or regional interests.
Keeping detailed and current files on matters of interest and potential interests of the listening audience.
Overseeing in the preparation of local public service announcements.
Overseeing coverage during Special and Emergency Events such as Elections, Public Forums, Dignitary Visits, and natural disasters including, but not limited to, hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Managing and overseeing News Content on IRSC Public Media websites, including preparing and publishing online stories locally and curating stories from other statewide and national broadcast sources.
Managing and overseeing News Content on Social Media Platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
