About the role
Job OverviewThe GM will oversee and manage all operations of our relined brake center. This role will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operations, forecasting demand for the department, and ensuring department production contributes positively to business results. This role is accountable for long-term success for the department, which requires strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities and Duties
- Operational Management:
- Oversee production schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines and ensure quality standards.
- Develop, implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) across the department, both on the floor and administratively.
- Ensure optimal allocation of resources (materials, equipment, and personnel).
- Accountable for accurate inventory levels in the system and in the racks.
- Develop and implement a process to track and quarantine unidentified material.
- System Optimization
- Ensure full optimization of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to support order management and inventory control.
- Oversee duties within the ERP such as manufacturing order production reporting, scrap reporting, inventory moves and planning/releasing of product.
- Ensure timeliness of reporting throughout the day.
- Run and analyze operations reports to understand department performance and implement corrective action where needed.
- Forecast customer needs and demand to inform and adjust production schedules.
- Ensure there is clear delineation between work-in-progress and finished materials on the floor and in the system.
- Process Improvement and Quality Control:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Troubleshoot operations issues and resolve any technical problems that arise.
- Collaborate with leadership on setting quality control key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure operations meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the operations process and products.
- Implement corrective actions if quality standards are not met.
- Customer Service
- Work with sales to resolve customer issues with orders and provide an effective solution.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers for long-term success.
- Collaborate with sales on customer order creation as needed.
- Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Monitor and control operation costs, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Track and report KPIs related to budget and operations.
- Report regularly to senior leadership on operations progress, challenges, and results.
- Perform purchasing duties as required within the budget provided.
- Workplace Safety:
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations.
- Ensure all employees follow proper safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the team.
- Team Development:
- Consistently exhibits HTI’s core values and servant leadership style.
- Directs employees to work through technical and managerial expertise.
- Communicates, advises and reinforces change management efforts with employees.
- Sets and communicates vision for their team to produce profitable business results and achieve high performance, which includes overall and daily goals. Provides clarity on goals as necessary.
